Chairman of the Election Commission Mahinda Deshapriya stated that the presidential election will cost over Rs. 4.5 Billion

Speaking at a press conference held at the Election Commission in Rajagiriya today, he said 23 candidates representing independent groups and political parties have placed their deposits.

The Chairman said that the number of candidates who had deposited money is the highest for any presidential election in the country.
