The Ministry of Education has taken steps to issue a special letter to heads of schools on how to act during an incident if someone wearing clothing that covers the face or using protective head gear tries to enter a school.
The Ministry said the Minister of Education Akila Viraj Kariyawasam has provided these instructions to the Secretary of the Ministry.
A problematic situation took place in some schools during the past few days since certain persons with their faces covered came to schools and some teachers had also been clad in such clothing due to being unaware of the provisions imposed through Emergency Regulations regarding face coverings.
This special letter has been issued focusing attention on such incidents and how heads of schools should intervene on such an occasion when such persons try to enter a school and it also includes orders on wearing clothing covering the face and protective head gear.
This letter with the Minister’s instructions sent to heads of schools contains an image issued by the Human Rights Commission to the Ministry of Education, in compliance with the order in gazette notifications issued under emergency regulations in connection with full face covered clothing.
