The Ministry of Health has requested the public to abstain from taking anti-inflammatory pain killing drugs, including aspirin, for fever.
They point out that there is an increase in the number of reported dengue patients in some districts due to the southwest monsoon rains these days.
Health authorities warn that dengue patients should not take anti-inflammatory pain killing drugs such as aspirin, ibuprofen, diclofenac sodium and mefenamic acid and drugs in the category of steroids.
If a person who has Dengue fever takes these drugs the infection can intensify and become fatal.
