The school van operators and three-wheeler drivers demand that the fares should be increased following the upward revision of the fuel prices.
Meanwhile, Chairman of the Lanka Self-Employed Three-Wheeler Operators' Union, Sunil Jayawardena said that the fare for the first kilometer should be increased up to 80 rupees.
However, All-Island Three-Wheeler Operators' and Owners' Union PresidentSudil Jayaruk said that they will not increase the fares.
He said if fares are increased further public will not use three-wheelers as a mode of transport.
When contacted, Malsri de Silva, All-Island School Children Transport Union's President said that they might have to increase the fares of school vans and buses due to the latest fuel price revision.
