A mother who had attempted to commit suicide by drinking poison at the National Child Protection Authority, was hospitalised last afternoon.
An Authority spokesperson said the mother had attempted suicide saying that no response was being given from the Authority although complaints had been lodged regarding harassment imposed on her son, who is currently in probation office custody.
After the 24-year-old mother consumed the poison, Child Protection officials had originallyadmitted her to the Sri Jayawardenepura Hospital.
Responding to a query by our news team, Child Protection Authority Chairman, H. M. Abeyrathne said the woman had been admitted to hospital without delay.
The woman had later been transferred from sri Jayewardenepura Hospital to the Kalubowila Teaching Hospital, as her condition was not serious.
