The administration at Uva Wellassa University has suspended lectures until further notice due to an infectious disease which is spreading amongst students.
University Registrar, M. S. H. Kareem told our news team that 29 students had been infected with this disease during the last week.
Meanwhile, the University Joint Trade Union Federation said they will stage demonstrations in front of all universities today (Mar. 13).
The federation’s joint chairman Edward Malwaththage said although their strike action is continued for 2 weeks, the authorities are yet to respond to their issues.
The academic and administrative activities of state universities are affected by the ongoing strike.
