The Court of Appeal's 'stay order' issued against Financial Crimes Investigation Division not to take action against former Defence Secretary Gotabaya Rajapaksa has been extended until 15th of December.

The stay order has prevented the FCID from taking action against former Defence Secretary under the Public Property Act.

In this case, the former Defence Secretary is accused of misappropriating Rs. 33 million for the construction of D. A. Rajapaksa Memorial Museum in Medamulana, Hambantota.

Gotabaya Rajapaksa filed a writ petition a few days ago seeking an order to be issued to prevent action being taken against him.

In his petition, the former Defence Secretary informed the court that the D.A. Rajapaksa Memorial Museum was constructed under an agreement reached between the D.A. Rajapaksa Foundation and the Sri Lanka Land Reclamation and Development Corporation.
