On the 10th of August, former ruggerite Waseem Thajudeen's body was exhumed and everybody is waiting to know the final decision made by the court on his death.
Recently the uncle of late Thajudeen expressed his views to a local newspaper. He said the rumours spread around saying that , the relations and family members are against this exhumation, is wrong.
"On the 17th of May 2012, Waseem's body was found near the Shalika grounds in Narahenpita. We carried out the religious rituals and buried him on the same day according to our religion. Recently former Minister Dilan Perera at a media briefing said that the relations are against this exhumation, which is not true.
We never objected, we are bound by the laws of Sri Lanka and the court orders. according to our religion whoever committed such crime will be punished by the god in due course. My son had a very untimely death and no one should experience such misery in the future.
The former president Rajapakse is saying that he will carry out further investigations when he is in power, why couldn't he do that before. This incident took place when he was the president of the country.
Automatically the public will point their fingers at him for not doing justice.
Thajudeen was very fond of me. He loved to play rugger. He was wearing a smile on his face all the time.
Few years after his death my wife gave birth to a son. I named him after Thajudeen."
