There are various rumours about the former ruggerite  Waseem Thajusdeen's death  According to the reports produced before the courts it has been proved as a murder, not an accident. His body will be exhumed on the 10th of August.

Former MP Namal Rajapakse expressed his views on Thajudeen's death and refused the allegations over his family members on this murder.

Please find an article below done up on the facts gathered on him.

1.) What was so controversial about Thajudeen's death?

Three years back he died in an accident and the current government ordered the police on the 16th of February to carry out further investigations on Thajudeen's death
The investigations revealed that it was a murder not an accident. His charred remains were found in his car near Shalika Grounds in Narahenpita. This was one of the key accusative points the opposition parties raised and JVP leader Minister Anura Kumara Dissanayake and few others raised there opinion in and  outside the parliament.

All Thajudeen's relatives and friends complained that a proper investigation was not carried out regarding his death and upon the appointment of the new government further investigations were carried out.

2.) Why did the court issue an order to exhume Thajudeen's body.

According to the reports presented by the CID before the courts it was revealed that prior to Thajudeen's death he had been assaulted and the bones were broken.
There are strong evidence to prove that it was a murder. Last week it was announced that the court has issued an order to exhume Thajudeen's body and special police security was provided to guard the cemetery. Accordingly his body will be exhumed on the 10th of August.

The objective of this exhumation is to confirm the facts found out during the investigations carried out recently.

3.)What was published upon his death?

The former police media spokesperson Ajith Rohana emphasised that the cause of the death is due to speedy driving and the police department kept on denying the doubts raised by various parties. Thajudeen's wallet was found 1.5 kilo meters away from the place where his charred body was found and police , the public, and the media  didn't give due consideration to such facts which were raised by certain political leaders like JVP leader Anura Kumara. Denial of such facts by the Police department clearly indicates an invisible  political hand is behind this murder.

4.) What did  the Police Reports say?

According to the preliminary Investigations the police reports stated that Thajudeen's death was caused due to an accident occurred on the 17th May 2012. An analysis was also called from the government analyst department, however the analyst report took nearly two and half years to arrive.

According to the new reports of the CID , the judicial medical officer's report and the government analyst's report  are contradictory and further investigations are carried out on that matter too. Prior to his death , Thajudeen was assaulted and his ribs were broken.

5.) Who is Thajudeen ?

Thajudeen an Old boy of St Thomas's college was a popular ruggerite and represented the National Rugby team in 2008 and won the medal for the most popular ruggerite in Sri Lanka in year 2009. He represented few other popular Rugby sports clubs.

Thajudeen's friends  and family refrained from commenting on his death in public, but they carried out various social welfare activities. Thajudeen foundation is one of the best examples for that.

The Wasim Thajudeen memorial trophy which was commenced last year to  to commemorate Thajudeen will be played  this year on the 30th of August for the second time.
