Suranga Pushpakumara of Pallebage is a lucky survival of Aranayake mudslide. Suranga’s family residing in Pallebage in Debathgama is staying at a relative’s place by the time of reporting.
While running for their lives, they had left their three-wheeler at home and upon their arrival they were shocked to see their carriage without wheels.
Suranga voiced his double-misfortune like this…
“Many in our area died of the landslide. When landslides were occurring in near-by villages, we are advised to leave the area. So, I, along with my family went to a relative’s place- we are still living in their place. But, as a habbit, I visit home every morning to see if everything is safe and on 21st morning, I found that someone had stolen the three tyres of my three-wheeler. When many generous people try to help us- victims to overcome the agony, a few low people are engaged in such cheap activities. Such people should be severely punished. I request authorities to take necessary steps to punish such people.”
