While young people eagerly await the lover’s day, an institute by the name of Scottishorbit has found that 9,400 girls under the age of 21 years lose their virginity to their partner on February 14.

This starling discovery was made following a detailed survey on sales during this day and facts gathered from abortion and medical clinics around the country.
 
Scottishorbit also revealed that sales of contraception pills and loops double during the Valentine’s Day, and on 15th, 16th and 17th February many young women approach abortion clinics in Colombo, Kalutara, Gampaha, Negombo, Kandy and Matale areas.  
 
Meanwhile, those who participated for the survey has agreed that first sexual intercourse was the best present given to their partner as celebration of the day. Correspondingly 80 per cent of hotel and motel rooms, that’s less than Rs. 4500, were reserved only for young couples.
 
Also on the days following the Valentine’s suicide among young women double, Scottishorbit found.
